Carpentry as part of a joinery and fit-out project
Carpentry is the hands-on woodwork done in your home: fixing frames, hanging doors, fitting wardrobes and cabinets, running skirting, setting out wall panels and making every joint meet cleanly against walls, floors and ceilings. At OutMazed it is not a separate call-out service. Our carpenters work inside our joinery and fit-out projects, so the person fitting a wardrobe is installing a piece our own team drew and made for that room. That is the main difference from hiring a carpenter for the day: the measurements, drawings, finishes and installation are owned by one company, with a project manager who coordinates the carpentry with the electrician, the painter and the flooring team.
What our carpenters do on site
Fitting wardrobes and cabinets
Levelling carcasses on uneven floors, fixing them securely to the wall, scribing fillers to the walls and adjusting doors and drawers so gaps are even.
Hanging doors
Fixing frames, hanging leaves, fitting hinges, locks and handles, and trimming doors to suit a new floor finish.
Skirting and architraves
Cutting and fixing skirting and door trims so corners meet neatly, including where walls are out of square.
Wall panelling and TV walls
Setting out battens and panels, cutting around sockets and switches and leaving a route for cables.
Built-in seating and shelving
Fixing benches, desks and shelves that are made for one alcove and need to be fitted to it exactly.
Adjustment and finishing
Final alignment of doors and hardware, sealing joints and checking everything opens and closes as it should before handover.
Carpentry and joinery: the difference in practice
The two words are often used for the same thing. In fit-out work they usually describe two halves of one job.
- JoineryWoodwork that is made to measure before it reaches the site: wardrobe carcasses, cabinet doors, panels, doors and furniture.
- CarpentryWork done in the room itself: fixing, fitting, hanging, scribing and adjusting so the joinery sits correctly in a real, imperfect space.
- Why it matters to youWhen one team does both, a wrong measurement or a wall that is not straight is solved by the people who made the piece, not passed between two contractors.
Where carpentry sits in the sequence of a renovation
Getting the order of trades right
Most carpentry happens in two passes. The first comes before walls are finished: grounds and backing for heavy wall units, door frames and any timber that will be hidden behind plaster or panelling. The second comes near the end, once floors are down and walls are painted: hanging doors, fitting wardrobes and kitchens, running skirting and fixing panels. Doing the second pass too early means scratched joinery and doors that no longer clear the new floor.
In Dubai's climate the timing also matters for the material. Timber and boards take up and lose moisture, so joinery is best fitted once the room is closed and the air-conditioning is running, and long runs of panelling or skirting are detailed with small allowances for movement. Our project manager plans these steps so you are not left coordinating trades yourself.

How we work
Project Study
A free site visit to see the rooms, measure and understand what you want made, fitted or replaced.
Plan
We agree the scope, materials and finishes and how the carpentry fits with the other trades. If your building or community needs approval for the work, we apply for it.
Visualization
New joinery is shown in 3D in your room before production, so sizes and finishes are settled early.
Execution
Our in-house team makes and installs the work, with a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact. We work 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday.
What changes the cost of carpentry work
We price after the site visit. Where the carpentry is part of a larger job, it is priced with the rest of our interior fit-out and joinery work. These are the usual drivers.
