Kitchen wrapping in Dubai: a new finish without replacing
Architectural film is a thin self-adhesive finish that is applied over cabinets, doors, walls and lifts. We prepare the surface, apply the film and detail the edges, so a kitchen or a door looks new without being torn out.

What architectural wrapping is
Architectural films are heavy-duty decorative vinyl films with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back. They are made in a wide range of finishes: wood grains, stone and concrete effects, metallics, leather textures, plain matt and gloss colours. Applied by hand over a smooth, sound surface, the film bonds to it and is wrapped around edges so the panel reads as one material. The appeal of kitchen wrapping is simple. A kitchen with solid carcasses but dated fronts, a set of doors in the wrong colour, or a lift interior that is scratched can be re-finished in place, with far less dust, noise and disruption than replacing it. Project Beyond included architectural wraps as part of a turnkey villa transformation, and Project Design, an office in Silicon Oasis, included custom kitchen wrapping.
What can be wrapped
Kitchen cabinet wrapping
Doors, drawer fronts, side panels and plinths re-finished in a new colour or grain, with new handles if you want them. This is the most common use.
Doors and frames
Internal doors and their frames, front-door insides, and wardrobe doors changed to match a new interior.
Wardrobes and furniture
Built-in wardrobes, TV units, vanities and office furniture given a consistent finish.
Wall wrapping
Feature walls, columns and panels in a wood or stone look on a smooth substrate.
Lifts
Villa lift doors, frames and car interiors, where replacing panels is difficult and the finish takes wear.
Counters and offices
Reception desks, pantry units and office joinery, re-finished overnight or in phases to keep the space working.
When wrapping works and when it does not
The film is only as good as the surface under it
Film follows the surface it is applied to, so preparation is most of the job. Old surfaces are cleaned and degreased, damaged spots are filled and sanded, and a primer is used where the material needs it. Edges and corners are where wraps fail first, so the way the film is cut, heated and folded around each edge matters.
Wrapping is not the answer everywhere. Cabinets with swollen or water-damaged board, peeling laminate or loose hinges should be repaired or replaced, not covered. Surfaces right next to an oven, hob or other strong heat need care, and areas that are constantly wet are better in other materials. In commercial buildings, the film's fire classification has to suit what the building requires. We check all of this on site before recommending a wrap.

Choosing the finish
- See samples in the roomDaylight and the room's lighting change how a film looks, so we test samples on your actual surfaces.
- Texture as well as colourWood and stone films come with surface textures that make them feel closer to the real material.
- Matt or glossMatt finishes hide fingerprints and small marks better. Gloss reflects more light and shows more.
- Handles and hardwareWrapping is a good moment to change handles, hinges and soft-close fittings.
- Matching what staysWorktops, floors and walls that are not changing should guide the choice.
How we deliver architectural wraps
Project Study
A free site visit to check each surface, its condition and what can and cannot be wrapped.
Plan
Finish samples, scope, repairs needed first and the order of work, room by room.
Visualization
The new finishes shown in the 3D design with the rest of the room, so you can judge the result before work starts.
Execution
Hardware removed, surfaces prepared, film applied and edges detailed, then hardware refitted, coordinated by one project manager.
What changes the cost
- Number of doors, panels and surfaces
- Condition of the surfaces and the repairs needed first
- Film type and finish
- Complexity: profiled doors, curves and many edges take longer
- New handles, hinges or fittings
- Access, such as lifts or work out of hours in offices
