Fibreglass pools in Dubai, installed and finished

A fibreglass pool is a one-piece shell made in a factory mould, lowered into a prepared hole and finished on site. We build pools in both fibreglass and concrete, and help you decide which suits your garden.

HOW A

How a fibreglass pool is made

A fibreglass pool, written fiberglass in American spelling, is moulded as a single shell of glass-fibre-reinforced resin with a smooth gel-coat surface. It arrives on a truck, is lifted by crane into an excavation prepared on a compacted base, then levelled, plumbed and backfilled while it is filled with water so the pressure stays balanced. The coping, deck and landscape are built around it. Because most of the shell is made off site, the on-site work is shorter and less dependent on weather than building a pool in concrete. The trade-off is that you choose from the shapes and sizes available as moulds, rather than designing any shape you like.

FIBREGLASS OR

Fibreglass or concrete?

We build both, so the choice comes down to your site and what you want from the pool.

01

Shape and size

Concrete can follow any design, length or depth. Fibreglass is limited to the shells available, and to what can be transported on a road.

02

Surface

Fibreglass has a smooth, non-porous gel coat that is gentle on feet. Concrete is finished with tile, mosaic or plaster, which gives more choice of look.

03

Time on site

With the shell made in advance, the work in your garden is usually shorter for fibreglass. Concrete is built entirely on site.

04

Access

A fibreglass shell needs a clear route for a truck and crane, or for the shell to be lifted over the house. Concrete needs only access for machinery and materials.

05

Features

Glass panels, overflow or infinity edges and custom water features are easier to achieve in concrete.

CHECK THESE

Check these before choosing fibreglass

  • Crane and truck accessVilla communities often have narrow roads, low cables, parked cars and limited working hours. The lift route is the first thing we look at.
  • Shell dimensionsThe width of the shell is limited by road transport, so very wide pools are usually built in concrete.
  • Ground conditionsThe shell sits on a prepared base. Soil and groundwater conditions affect how that base and the backfill are built.
  • Garden layoutThe fixed shape has to fit the deck, shade and planting you want. We design the garden around the shell in 3D.
  • HeatAs with any pool in Dubai, shade and finish colour affect water temperature in summer.
FEATURES THAT

Features that settle the shell question

The choice between a fibreglass shell and a concrete pool is often settled by one feature, such as a glass corner on a skimmer pool or a cascading water feature, like the two in the projects below. Details like these depend on how the pool walls and plumbing are built, so a ready-made shell may or may not allow them. If you want something similar, say so on the site visit, before a shell model is chosen or the pool's position is fixed.

HOW WE

How we deliver it

01

Project Study

On the free site visit we check the lift route, the excavation, the ground and the space available, and confirm whether fibreglass or concrete fits better.

02

Plan

Shell choice, position, plumbing, equipment and surrounding works are agreed, together with a programme.

03

Visualization

The pool and the garden around it are produced in 3D, so you can see the shell in place before it is ordered.

04

Execution

Our in-house team prepares the site, installs and connects the pool and builds the deck and landscape, with one project manager as your single point of contact.

We apply for the approvals the work needs; which ones apply depends on your community and the scope.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost

  • Shell size and model
  • Transport and crane lift, especially over a house or a long reach
  • Excavation and base preparation
  • Equipment: filtration, heating or chilling, lighting
  • Coping, deck and landscaping around the shell
  • Any steps, seats or spa sections built into the shell
FAQ

Questions and answers

Do you build fibreglass pools or only concrete?

Both. We build concrete and fibreglass pools and help you choose based on your site.

Is fibreglass or fiberglass correct?

Both refer to the same material. Fibreglass is the British spelling and fiberglass the American.

Can a fibreglass shell be lifted over my house?

Sometimes, with a crane of the right reach. Whether it is practical depends on the plot, the road and the community. We check it on the site visit.

Can I choose any shape?

No. Fibreglass pools come in the shapes and sizes available as moulds. If you want a specific shape, length or edge, concrete is the better route.

Is fibreglass faster to build?

The on-site work is usually shorter because the shell is made in advance. The overall time depends on the work; you receive a programme after the site visit.

Can a fibreglass pool have an overflow or infinity edge?

These edges are far easier to build in concrete, which is what we usually recommend if you want one.

Do you handle approvals?

Yes, we apply for them ourselves. Which ones apply depends on your community and the scope.
