Smart home automation in Dubai
We build smart home automation into Dubai villas and apartments as part of the renovation, so lighting, climate, curtains, security and the garden work together and the cabling is in place before the walls close.

Automation works best when it is designed into the home
Smart devices can be added to any home, one plug or bulb at a time. The result is often a collection of separate apps that do not talk to each other and a Wi-Fi network struggling to reach the far end of the villa. Home automation planned as part of a renovation is different. Before ceilings and walls are closed, we decide what should be controlled, from where and by whom, and run the cables, back boxes and network points it needs. The switches on the wall, the app on your phone and any voice control then run the same scenes, and the system still works simply for guests, children and staff who never open the app. We plan and install these systems in Abu Dhabi as well; see smart home installation in Abu Dhabi.
What can be automated
Lighting
Scenes for the whole room rather than single switches: evening, dinner, cinema, night path to the kitchen. Dimming, and lights that switch off when everyone leaves.
Climate
Smart thermostats and AC control by room or zone, with schedules for Dubai's long summer, so rooms are cool before you arrive rather than all day. We check which Nest or other smart thermostat suits the AC system first.
Curtains and blinds
Motorised tracks that close against the afternoon sun and open on a schedule. These need power and a ceiling recess, which is why they are planned early.
Security
CCTV cameras, video intercom at the gate, smart door locks and alerts on your phone, linked to lighting if you want the house to look occupied.
Entertainment
Audio in living areas and terraces, and a home cinema or TV wall with concealed cabling.
Garden and pool
Outdoor and pool lighting, irrigation and water features on timers or scenes. Project Casa Colonia included advanced outdoor automation alongside underwater and landscape lighting.
Decisions to make at design stage
Wired, wireless, and who uses it
The first decision is how much is wired. Wired systems and wired network points are the most dependable, which suits a villa where thick walls and several floors weaken Wi-Fi, but they need cables run before finishes go on. Wireless devices are easier to add later and suit apartments and smaller retrofits. Most homes end up with a mix, and the network that ties it together matters as much as the devices. The same planned-in approach runs through the features on our innovation pages, from smart thermostats to switchable glass, whose wiring is prepared before finishes go on.
The second is the control. Most people want normal-looking wall keypads that work without a phone, an app for when they are away, and possibly voice control. Deciding this early means the right back boxes are in the walls and the scenes are written for the way the household actually lives.
The third is what should never depend on the system. Lights should still switch on and the AC should still run if the internet goes down, so manual control is kept for the essentials.

Adding automation to an existing home
If you are not renovating, automation can still be added. The approach changes:
- Wireless switches and modulesFitted into existing back boxes, without chasing new cables into finished walls.
- Smart thermostatsReplacing existing AC controls room by room.
- Retrofit curtain motorsOn existing tracks where there is power nearby.
- Better network coverageAccess points on each floor so the system and your devices stay connected.
How we deliver smart home automation
Project Study
A free site visit to see the home, how it is wired today and what you want to control.
Plan
We agree what is automated in each room, how it is controlled and how it fits with the electrical and ceiling works of the renovation.
Visualization
Lighting, keypads, curtains and screens are placed in the 3D design, so you can see where everything sits before cables are run.
Execution
Cabling, installation and setting up the scenes, with a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact.
What changes the cost
- Number of rooms and devices controlled
- Wired or wireless, and how much cabling is needed
- Motorised curtains and blinds
- Security, intercom and camera coverage
- Audio, cinema and outdoor systems
- Whether the work is part of a renovation or a retrofit into finished rooms
