Artificial grass installation in Dubai, laid as part of the garden

We install artificial grass as one part of a designed garden in Dubai, with a proper base, clean edges, paths and lighting planned around it, not as a roll laid over sand.

WHERE ARTIFICIAL

Where artificial grass makes sense in a Dubai garden

Artificial grass gives a green, usable surface without the watering and mowing that a natural lawn needs through a Dubai summer. It suits shaded corners where real grass thins out, small townhouse gardens, areas around a pool, children's play areas and roof terraces. It is not the right answer everywhere: it gets hot in direct afternoon sun, it does not cool the air the way planting does, and it looks best when it is framed by real planting, paving and light. That is why we treat it as part of the garden design rather than a product to roll out. At OutMazed® Design artificial grass is laid as part of a landscaping project, with the base, edges, drainage and surrounding features built by the same in-house team. We also work in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

HOW ARTIFICIAL

How artificial grass is used in a garden

01

Main lawn

The whole open area of the garden, framed by planting beds and paths, for a green surface all year.

02

With stepping stones

Stone or porcelain slabs set into the grass to make a path across it. The joints are cut around each stone so the line stays crisp.

03

Around seating

A soft surface under garden furniture, a swing or a bench, often combined with a pergola or gazebo for shade.

04

Poolside

A green edge beside the pool deck. Placement needs care so the grass is not soaked by splash or spoiled by pool water.

05

Planters and terraces

Smaller areas on balconies, roof terraces and raised planters where a natural lawn is impractical.

WHAT DECIDES

What decides how well it lasts

Most artificial grass that looks poor after a year was let down by what is underneath it.

  • Base preparationThe ground is levelled and compacted so the surface stays flat and does not dip where people walk.
  • DrainageWater from rain, washing down or a nearby pool must pass through and away, not sit underneath.
  • EdgesA firm edge against paving, beds and walls stops the grass lifting or creeping.
  • Joins and directionRolls are joined so the seams do not show, with the pile running the same way across the area.
  • SunIn full afternoon sun the surface becomes hot to touch. Shade from a pergola, trees or structures makes it far more usable.
  • What surrounds itPlanting beds next to the grass still need irrigation, and lighting cables and pipes should be laid before the grass goes down.
GRASS, STONE

Grass, stone and light planned together

Projects Bold and Alpha in Damac Hills 2

On Project Bold the outdoor scope included artificial grass, stepping stones lit by outdoor lights, plant spike lights, wall cladding and an outdoor backsplash. On Project Alpha it combined artificial grass with stepping stones, landscaping, wall cladding and ambient outdoor lighting.

In both, the grass is one layer of a garden that also has hard paths, planting and light. That is the difference between a laid lawn and a designed one: the stones, edges and lights are placed first in the design, and the grass is cut to them.

HOW WE

How we deliver it

01

Project Study

A free site visit to look at the ground, levels, sun, drainage and how the area will be used.

02

Plan

We decide where grass, paving, stepping stones and planting go, and where cables and pipes must run underneath. Approvals the garden work needs are applied for by us.

03

Visualization

You see the garden in 3D, including how the grass meets the paths, beds and pool deck.

04

Execution

Our team prepares the base, lays services, sets stones and edges, and lays the grass last.

Duration depends on the work; a programme is given after the site visit.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost

What moves the price is the work under and around the grass; the questions below show what a quote should cover, and our quotation follows the site visit.

HOW TO

How to compare artificial grass quotes

Two quotations for the same garden can be far apart because they describe different jobs. Some installers write artificial turf on a quote, others fake grass; whatever the name, the rate for the grass alone tells you little. These questions show whether a quote covers the rest of the work:

  • Does it include clearing the ground? If anything has to come out first, such as an old lawn or paving, the quote should list it. A quote that says nothing about it assumes the ground is already clear.
  • Is the base included?Look for a line for the groundwork under the grass, not only for supplying and laying it. If there is none, ask what the grass will be laid on.
  • Where does the water go?The quote should say how the area drains, which matters most beside a pool or where the garden is washed down.
  • How are the edges held?Ask what fixes the grass along paving, beds, walls and the pool deck, and whether that edging is in the quote or extra.
  • How many cuts around stepping stones? If stones are set into the grass, the quote should give their number and include cutting the grass around each one.
  • Where will the joins fall?A roll layout shows where the seams will be. Two installers covering the same area can plan quite different layouts.
  • Who lays the cables and pipes? If the beds need irrigation or the garden will have lights, check whether that work is in the quote or left to another contractor, who has to finish before the grass goes down.
  • Is the grass product named? Each quote should name the product it is priced on, so you compare like with like.
FAQ

Questions and answers

Does artificial grass get hot in the Dubai summer?

Yes, in direct afternoon sun the surface becomes hot to touch. Shade from structures or trees, and placing grass where it is used in the cooler part of the day, helps.

Artificial or natural grass: which should I choose?

Natural grass needs regular watering and care through the summer; artificial grass does not. Many gardens use artificial grass in shaded or high-wear areas and real planting around it. We help you decide on the site visit.

Can it go next to the pool?

Yes, with care over where splash and pool water land, and with a firm edge against the deck.

Can stepping stones be set into it?

Yes. Projects Bold and Alpha both combine artificial grass with stepping stones.

Does it need irrigation?

The grass itself does not. Planting beds around it still do.

Can it go on a roof terrace or balcony?

In many cases, yes. It depends on the surface underneath and its drainage, which we check on site.

What should I check before laying artificial grass for a balcony?

Three things: the floor finish and its waterproofing, which must not be damaged by fixings; the fall to the balcony drain, which the grass must not block; and whether your building or community needs an approval for the change, which we apply for ourselves. On a tiled or concrete floor the grass is usually fixed with adhesive or held at the edges rather than pinned into the ground, and it is cut around the drain so water still reaches it.

Is the site visit free?

Yes. The site visit is free.
