Swimming pool renovation in Dubai

An older pool rarely needs to be demolished to feel new. We study what you have, decide what stays, and redesign the pool and the space around it before any work starts.

WHEN A

When a pool renovation makes sense

Many villas in Dubai came with a pool that was built to a standard plan: a plain rectangle, a set of corner steps, basic lighting and a narrow strip of paving around it. Years later the finish looks tired, the steps feel cramped and the poolside does not suit how the family actually uses the garden. A renovation keeps the parts of the pool that still work and changes the parts that do not. That can be a new finish and coping, or a full rework of steps, lighting, deck and shade. OutMazed renovates existing pools as well as building new ones, so the advice you get is not tied to one answer. Pool and garden work runs under our Pools & Landscape division, the outdoor arm of the company, with the same 3D design, approvals and in-house team. For villas in Abu Dhabi, the same choice is covered on our pool work for Abu Dhabi villas page.

WHAT A

What a renovation can change

Most projects combine a few of these. The site visit tells us which ones your pool can take.

01

Interior finish and coping

Replacing a worn or stained interior finish and the edge stones around the pool changes how the water looks more than any other single step.

02

Steps, benches and ledges

Corner steps can be widened into a full-width entry, a seating bench can be built in, or part of the shallow end can become a wet deck for loungers.

03

Edge and overflow detail

Depending on the structure and levels, a skimmer pool can sometimes take a different edge treatment. This is one of the first things checked on site.

04

Lighting

Underwater and perimeter lighting can be added or replaced so the pool reads well at night, when it is used most in summer.

05

The poolside

Decking, paving, a pergola or gazebo, an outdoor shower and planting usually change at the same time, so the pool and garden read as one design.

START WITH

Start with what the pool already has

Structure, levels and equipment decide the options

The most useful part of a renovation happens before any design. We look at the shell, the levels of the pool against the house and garden, how water is returned and skimmed, where the equipment sits and how it is reached. Some changes are simple on one pool and impractical on another, and it is better to know that before you fall for a 3D render.

Equipment location is a common issue in older villas. On Project Miracle in The Villa, the outdoor scope included a 9 x 4 skimmer pool with a glass corner, and the water pump was relocated as part of the works. Moving plant away from seating areas and doors often matters as much as the finish people see.

DECISIONS TO

Decisions to make during design

  • Keep or reshapeWhether the pool keeps its footprint and depth, or whether steps, ledges and the shallow end are rebuilt.
  • Finish and colour of the waterLighter finishes give brighter, clearer water in the sun; darker finishes give a deeper, more reflective look.
  • ShadeDubai summers make shade over loungers and the shallow end a practical choice, not only a decorative one.
  • Night useWhere lights sit in the pool, along the edge and in the garden, and how they are controlled.
  • Surface around the poolPaving or decking that stays comfortable to walk on in the heat, with falls that drain away from the water.
RENOVATING THE

Renovating the pool as part of a villa renovation

Pool work is often one part of a larger project. On Project Majestic in Al Twar, a full villa transformation, the outdoor area was rebuilt around a pool with a cascading water feature, a sunken structure for relaxation and a gazebo. On Project Jewel in The Villa, a 3.5 x 7 skimmer pool and new landscaping were part of a wider renovation that also covered the kitchen, bathrooms and lighting. One design, one programme and one project manager cover the lot.

HOW OUTMAZED

How OutMazed delivers a pool renovation

01

Project Study

A free site visit to inspect the pool, the equipment and the garden, and to understand how you want to use the space.

02

Plan

We agree the scope, what stays and what changes, and apply for the approvals your community and scope require.

03

Visualization

The renovated pool and poolside are designed in 3D, so finishes, lighting and levels are agreed before work begins.

04

Execution

Our in-house team carries out the work, with a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact.

A programme is given after the site visit, because duration depends on the work.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost

We price after the site visit. These are the factors that move it most.

  • How much of the pool is rebuiltA new finish costs far less than reshaping steps, ledges or the edge.
  • Condition of the shell and equipmentWhat the inspection finds can add or remove work.
  • Access to the gardenNarrow side access makes removal and delivery slower.
  • Finishes chosenInterior finish, coping and deck materials vary widely.
  • Added featuresLighting, water features, shade, an outdoor shower and garden works each add scope.
FAQ

Questions and answers

Do you renovate existing pools or only build new ones?

Both. OutMazed builds new swimming pools and renovates existing ones, including skimmer, overflow, infinity and plunge pools.

Can my pool be changed without breaking it out completely?

Often, yes. Finishes, coping, lighting and the poolside can usually be changed while the shell stays. Whether steps, ledges or the edge can be reshaped depends on the structure, which we check on the site visit.

Can a wet deck or floating steps be added to an existing pool?

In many cases they can, depending on the depth, structure and space at the shallow end. We confirm it on site and show the result in 3D first.

Do I need approval to renovate my pool?

That depends on your community and on the scope of work. OutMazed applies for the approvals itself, so you do not have to deal with them separately.

How long does a pool renovation take?

It depends on the work. We give you a programme after the site visit, once the scope is clear.

Can you redo the garden at the same time?

Yes. Pools and landscape are one of our services, so paving, decking, shade, lighting, planting and irrigation can be designed and delivered together with the pool.

Will I see the design before work starts?

Yes. Every design is produced in 3D before execution, so you can see the pool, finishes and lighting together.
