SPC flooring in Dubai
SPC is a rigid vinyl plank with a core made largely of stone powder. It clicks together over most sound floors, copes with spills, and has become one of the most common ways to renew a floor in Dubai.

What SPC is
SPC stands for stone plastic composite, sometimes called stone polymer composite. The core of each plank is a dense, rigid board made mostly of ground limestone bound with PVC. On top of it sits a printed design film and a clear wear layer, and many planks come with an underlay already fixed to the back. The planks have a click-lock edge and are laid as a floating floor, without glue. The rigid core is what sets SPC apart from flexible LVT: it bridges small dips and grout lines instead of showing them, and it is more stable when temperature changes. That is why SPC is so often laid straight over existing tiles in villas and apartments.
Why it is chosen in Dubai
Over existing tiles
On flat, sound tiles, SPC can usually go straight on top, avoiding the noise and dust of breaking out the old floor.
Water-resistant core
The core does not swell with water the way laminate's fibreboard does, which makes SPC practical in kitchens and family areas.
Stable with AC changes
Humidity barely affects it, so villas closed up in summer are less of a concern than with wood.
Hard-wearing
The wear layer handles daily traffic and sand, though entrance mats still extend its life.
Wide choice of looks
Oak-look, stone-look and herringbone formats are all available.
What to know before choosing SPC
- Water-resistant is not waterproofingThe planks resist spills, but water that runs under the floor at the edges can still collect. Showers and wet rooms belong in tile or stone over a waterproof membrane.
- Sound and feelSPC is harder underfoot than flexible vinyl and can sound hollow if the base or underlay is wrong. A good underlay makes a noticeable difference.
- Sun and expansionSPC moves less than flexible vinyl, but still needs expansion gaps at walls and in very large or very sunny rooms.
- Heavy fixed joineryKitchen islands and built-in units should not pin a floating floor down; we plan whether the floor runs under or stops at them.
- Height changesLaying over tiles raises the floor, which affects doors, thresholds and stair nosings.
SPC against the nearest alternatives
SPC or laminate
Both are click floors. SPC copes with water far better; laminate can feel warmer and has a harder surface in some grades.
SPC or LVT
SPC is rigid and forgiving of the base. LVT is flexible, quieter and better for glue-down patterns.
SPC or engineered wood
Engineered wood is real timber and can usually be refinished. SPC is more practical in busy, wet-prone rooms.
How we deliver SPC flooring
Project Study
A free site visit to measure, check tiles for loose or hollow areas and flatness, and see where wet zones and sunny windows are.
