Infinity pools for Dubai villas
An infinity edge lets water spill over one side of the pool so the surface seems to run on into the garden or the sky. We design and build them for private villas, starting with a free site visit.

What an infinity pool actually is
Most people know the infinity pool from hotel rooftops. At a villa the idea is the same, built at a smaller scale: one or more walls of the pool are set slightly lower than the water line, so water flows over that edge in a thin sheet and drops into a hidden catch basin below. A pump returns it to the pool. From the main viewing point you see no wall, only water meeting whatever lies beyond it. That illusion is the whole point, and it only works if the pool is planned around a view and a change in level. Without the right site, it becomes an edge that nobody can see.
Ways to build the edge
The edge can be placed and shaped in several ways. Which one suits you depends on where you will sit and what you want to look at.
Single vanishing edge
The most common layout. One long side, usually the one facing away from the house, spills into a trough. Everything else is a normal pool wall.
Corner or two-sided edge
Two adjoining sides overflow, so the water seems to disappear around a corner. It looks striking from several angles but needs more catch-basin length and very careful levelling.
Edge over a garden step
Where the pool sits on a raised terrace, the edge can drop towards a lower lawn or planting bed. Many Dubai plots are flat, so this level change is often built in rather than found.
Raised pool on a terrace or roof
Placing the pool high up gives the edge its best view, but the structure carrying the water needs a structural engineer's design from the start.
Is your plot right for one?
Before anyone draws a pool, we check these points on the site visit.
- Something to look atA golf course, a lake, a palm line or the sky. If the edge faces a neighbour's boundary wall, the effect is lost.
- A difference in levelThe catch basin sits below the edge. Either the ground already falls away, or the pool is raised to create the drop.
- Room for the catch basin and plantThe trough, a balance tank and the pumps need space that you can reach for servicing.
- Wind directionWind pushes water over the edge and can make it splash or run unevenly. Orientation is worth getting right on paper.
- Community rulesSome communities control raised structures, wall heights and what can be built near a boundary. We check what applies and apply for the approvals ourselves.
Design decisions that matter in Dubai
Evaporation and top-up
Water falling over an edge has more surface exposed to hot, dry air than water sitting still. An infinity pool loses more water than a standard one, so the automatic top-up and the balance tank are part of the design, not an afterthought.
Shade and seating
The best view of the edge is usually from the house or a shaded seating area. A pergola or gazebo placed on that sightline gives you somewhere to enjoy it in the afternoon heat.
Night lighting
Lighting set in the pool and along the spill wall keeps the effect alive after dark, when the garden is used most in summer.
Where an infinity edge should face
An infinity edge belongs on the line people look along, so the planning starts from where they sit. The pool in the photo at the top of this page is Project Miracle's 9 x 4 skimmer pool, which has a glass corner and overlooks the seating area. It has no vanishing edge, but the same rule would apply: on a plot like that, the edge would go on the far side of the water as seen from those seats. The two projects below add two more things to plan with an edge: lighting built into the pool, and a cascading water feature. On top of these, an infinity pool needs a spill wall, a catch basin and a balance tank, and we fix where they go in the Plan stage.

How we build an infinity pool
Project Study
A free site visit to look at the view, the levels, access for machinery and where the catch basin and plant room can go. We also note the community requirements.
Plan
Layout, edge position, structure and the water system are worked out together, because on an infinity pool they depend on each other. You receive a programme for the work.
Visualization
You see the pool in 3D from the places you will actually sit, so you can judge the edge and the view before any digging starts.
Execution
Our in-house team builds the shell, the edge, the catch basin and the surrounding deck and landscape, managed by one dedicated project manager who is your single point of contact.
We apply for the approvals the work needs. Which ones apply depends on your community and the scope.
What changes the cost
Prices are given after the site visit, once the scope is clear. These are the things that move the number most.
- Length of the vanishing edge and the number of sides
- How much the ground must be raised or dug to create the drop
- Size of the catch basin, balance tank and pumps
- Structure, especially for raised or roof-level pools
- Finish of the pool and the spill wall: tile, mosaic or stone
- Lighting, automation and the deck, shade and landscape around it
