Renovate the pool you have, or build the one you want
On the Fronds, which Nakheel describes as gated villa communities with direct beach access, an existing pool is common. Over time finishes wear, equipment ages and owners want something the pool was never designed for: a flush edge, a shallow ledge for children, a jacuzzi, better lighting or a different relationship with the beach. Some villas have no pool at all. Both situations start the same way, with a survey of the plot, the levels between house and beach and what is already in the ground. From there we design either a renovation or a new pool, together with the terrace and garden around it.
Pool renovation options
New finish and coping
Retiling or replastering the shell and replacing the coping, often the quickest way to change how a pool looks.
Changing the edge
Converting a skimmer pool to an overflow or infinity edge where the structure and levels allow it.
Adding features
A wet deck or tanning ledge, built-in seating, a jacuzzi or a water feature.
Lighting
Underwater and perimeter lighting renewed or added, with the deck and garden lighting planned alongside.
Plant room
Pumps, filters and controls replaced or relocated, often to quieten the system or free up garden space.
Choosing a new pool for a frond garden
- Facing the waterAn infinity edge towards the sea is possible where the garden steps down; otherwise an overflow pool level with the deck gives a similar clean line.
- Narrow plotsA long, narrow lap-style pool along the garden often fits better than a wide one.
- Concrete or fibreglassWe build both; fibreglass depends on getting the shell through the side passage or over the house, which is checked first.
- Sand and saltSkimmers, deck drainage and fittings are placed and specified for a beach-side garden.

Nakheel NOC and pool works
Nakheel's FAQ sets out two requirements that matter for pool work: an NOC from its Urban Planning team before any alteration, and a valid Nakheel and Trakhees NOC for construction, modification and extension work. Pools on the Palm are part of a Nakheel community managed, according to Dubai Holding, by Dubai Holding Community Management. Whether a renovation counts as a modification depends on the scope, so we review it with you and apply for the NOCs ourselves.

The scope, the structure and equipment work it involves, and the NOC applications.
Visualization
The new or renovated pool in 3D with its deck and garden.
Execution
Our in-house team carries out structural, plumbing, electrical and finishing work, with one project manager as your contact.
