Wardrobes sized to the bedroom
In a three-bedroom townhouse or a four-bedroom villa in Al Furjan, bedrooms are comfortable but rarely have space to spare. A freestanding wardrobe leaves gaps above and to the side; a fitted one runs wall to wall and floor to ceiling and holds noticeably more. The bedroom layout also matters: where the bed sits, where the door swings, and where glazed doors open onto a terrace or balcony. On Project Murano the cupboards were refurbished as part of the indoor works, and on Wonder bespoke woodwork cabinets gave the home efficient storage.
Choosing the door type
Sliding doors
Useful in smaller bedrooms where a swinging door would hit the bed.
Hinged doors
Full access to the whole interior when there is room in front.
Handle-less fronts
A cleaner look, with push openers or recessed grips.
Open dressing area
Where the main bedroom has a recess or alcove that can become a small dressing space.
Inside the wardrobe

New wardrobes or refurbished cupboards
Starting from what is there
If the existing built-in cupboards are sound, refurbishing them with new doors, interiors or finishes can be enough, as with the cupboards on Murano. If they are poorly arranged inside, a new wardrobe designed for the room will work better.

Bedrooms with terraces and balconies
Some bedrooms in Al Furjan homes open onto a terrace or balcony through glazed doors, as on Project Wonder. A wardrobe in those rooms has to leave the doors and the light clear, so it usually goes on the wall opposite or beside the entrance, and sliding doors avoid clashing with the bed. Where the main bedroom has an alcove, it can become a compact dressing area with open hanging and drawers. We test the layout in 3D before anything is made.
