A pool that belongs to a one-off house
Meraas describes Pearl Jumeira as an island of plots for custom-built villas and mansions, with private beaches. With the sea so close, the pool is rarely just somewhere to swim. It is part of the view from the house, it sets the main terrace, and it is often the first thing seen from the living room. That makes its position, edge detail and level as important as its size. We design the pool and its deck together with the garden, check the levels against the house, and only then move to construction.
Pool types that suit a Pearl Jumeirah garden
Infinity pool
Water spills over one edge into a hidden catch channel, so the surface seems to continue towards the view. It needs a level difference and a catch basin, so it suits terraces raised above the garden.
Overflow pool
Water runs over all edges into a perimeter grating, leaving a flat, mirror-like surface level with the deck. It suits clean, modern architecture.
Skimmer pool
The water sits slightly below the coping and is drawn through skimmer boxes. Simpler to build and maintain, and works in almost any garden.
Plunge pool or jacuzzi
A smaller body of water for cooling off, or an outdoor spa beside the main pool or on an upper terrace.
Concrete or fibreglass
We build both. Concrete allows any shape and edge detail; a fibreglass shell is a fixed shape delivered to site, which depends on the shell reaching the garden.
Decisions specific to a coastal plot
- Orientation to the viewWhich way the pool faces decides whether you look at the water, the skyline or a boundary wall while swimming.
- Wind and sprayBreezes off the sea cool the terrace but carry sand and leaves into the water; the deck, skimmers and planting are placed with that in mind.
- CorrosionLadders, lights, handrails and nearby fixings need finishes suited to humid, salty air.
- Plant roomPumps and filters need a ventilated, accessible place that is out of sight and away from bedrooms.
- SafetyWhere children use the garden, the enclosure and gate around the pool are planned with the design, not added later.

Why we design them together
A pool decides the levels of everything around it: the deck, the steps down to the lawn, the drainage and the lighting. When it is designed alone, the garden has to be forced around it. We draw the pool, deck, shade, outdoor kitchen and planting in one 3D model, so you can see the whole terrace from the house before excavation.
During execution, one project manager coordinates the structural work, plumbing, electrics, finishes and the landscaping that follows, and is your single point of contact throughout.
Approvals for a pool on the island
Pearl Jumeirah is a Meraas master development, and Dubai Holding lists it among the communities managed by Dubai Holding Community Management. Pools are external works, so they normally need the master developer's or community management's consent, and pool plans may need authority approval as well. We confirm the approvals your pool needs and apply for them ourselves.
