Designing the garden between the house and the sea
Nakheel describes the Fronds of Palm Jumeirah as private, gated villa communities: low-density enclaves with direct beach access. For garden design on Palm Jumeirah, that sets an unusual brief. The garden is not only the space behind the house; it is the transition from the living room to the sand. It has to frame the water and the skyline across the bay, give privacy from the beach and the villas on either side, and hold up to sun, salt and wind. Each frond villa has its own frontage and its own condition, so we design every garden from the plot itself rather than from a frond-wide template.

The beach edge
Where the garden ends and the beach begins: a low wall, planting, a step down or a deck, and how sand is kept off the lawn and the pool terrace.
Privacy on a narrow frontage
Villas on the fronds sit side by side, so screening with walls, hedges, trees or slatted panels often decides where people will actually sit.
Views across the water
Seating, pergolas and the pool are placed to keep the long view open from the main rooms.
Salt and wind
Plant choice, light fittings and metalwork are selected for coastal exposure.
The side passages
Often the only route from street to beach garden. They become planted walks, service yards or both.
Evening use
Path, wall and tree lighting planned with the layout, so the garden works after sunset when it is most used.
Seeing the frond garden in 3D
From the terrace, from the beach, at night
Before execution, the whole garden is drawn in 3D. You can look at it from the living room, from the pool and from the beach looking back at the house, and you can check how much a screen hides and how much of the view it costs.
Revisions at this stage are drawing changes. Once you approve the 3D, it becomes the brief for our site team and the basis of the drawings we submit for approval, so what is approved and what is built are the same.
Nakheel and the approvals for garden works
Palm Jumeirah was developed by Nakheel, and Dubai Holding lists it among the communities managed by Dubai Holding Community Management. According to Nakheel's FAQ, owners must obtain a No Objection Certificate from Nakheel's Urban Planning team before making alterations, and a valid Nakheel and Trakhees NOC is required for construction, modification and extension work. Nakheel's FAQ also says changes are allowed as long as they do not affect the external facade and structure of the property. We confirm what your garden scope needs and apply for the NOCs ourselves.
