Landscape design and build in Umm Suqeim

Umm Suqeim gardens are mostly family gardens, used by several generations and plenty of guests. We design them around how the household lives outdoors, show the scheme in 3D and build it with our own team.

A GARDEN

A garden for the whole household

Umm Suqeim, divided into Umm Suqeim 1, 2 and 3, is a coastal residential district of independent villas on individual plots, next to Jumeirah. Many homes are lived in by large families, so the garden has to work for very different people at once: children who want to run and play, adults who want shade and a place to sit together, guests arriving at the front, and evenings when the whole family eats outside. Designing that well is mostly about zoning. Before choosing any material we work out who uses which part of the garden, at what time of day, and how they move between the house, the gate and the outdoor areas.

ZONES A

Zones a family garden usually needs

01

Outdoor majlis or seating

A shaded gathering place for family and guests, often near the entrance or the main reception room, under a pergola, gazebo or mature tree.

02

Children's area

Lawn or artificial grass to play on, with a safe surface and in sight of the seating area.

03

Cooking and dining

An outdoor kitchen or BBQ counter with storage made in our joinery workshop, close enough to the house kitchen to be practical.

04

Arrival and parking

The front garden, driveway and gate, designed so cars, deliveries and guests do not cross the family's space.

05

Quiet corner

A smaller planted space away from the play area, for reading or a morning coffee.

SHADE AND

Shade and privacy for daily use

Designing for afternoons and evenings

A family garden in Dubai is used most in the early morning, the evening and the cooler months. The design places seating and play where the house, walls and existing trees give shade at those times, and adds pergolas or gazebos where they do not.

Privacy matters as much as shade. If a neighbouring villa or a street overlooks the garden, screens, planting and the position of the seating can keep the main family areas private without making the garden feel closed in. The 3D design shows both before anything is built.

PERMITS FOR

Permits for garden works

Umm Suqeim is not a gated master community, so there is usually no master developer NOC. Building permits for villas in Dubai's older districts are generally handled by Dubai Municipality, whose services include a permit for modifications and additions to existing buildings and the approval of private swimming pool drawings. Planting and paving may need nothing, while new roofed structures or a pool usually do. We confirm what your scope needs and apply ourselves.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Can you design an outdoor majlis?

Yes. We design shaded seating for family and guests, often with a pergola or gazebo, as part of the garden layout.

Is a play area safe on artificial grass?

Artificial grass is widely used for play areas. We plan the surface, edges and shade so children can use it comfortably.

Do I need a permit for a pergola in Umm Suqeim?

It depends on the structure. Roofed structures may need a Dubai Municipality permit; we check and apply.

Can the front garden and driveway be included?

Yes. Arrival, parking and the front garden are designed with the rest of the plot.

Have you designed gardens in Umm Suqeim?

The gardens shown here are from other Dubai communities. We are happy to visit and look at the garden.

Is the site visit free?

Yes, the first site visit is free.
