A pool for a family home
Umm Suqeim is a district of independent family villas on individual plots, and a pool here is usually a family pool: used by children, grandparents and visiting relatives. Some villas have an older pool that needs renovating or reshaping; others have none and have room for one. In both cases two things shape the design as much as size and style: where the pool sits in relation to the house and the play areas, and how access to it is controlled. Dubai Municipality's rules for private pools address both approval and safety, so we build them into the design rather than adding them at the end.
Changing an existing pool
Resurfacing and new coping
Retiling or replastering the shell and replacing worn coping and deck.
Shallow areas
Adding steps, a ledge or a shallow end so younger children can use the pool more safely.
Equipment
Replacing pumps, filters and controls, or relocating the plant room.
Lighting and features
Underwater lighting, a water feature or an attached jacuzzi.
Reshaping
Changing the size or edge type where the structure allows it.
What Dubai Municipality says about private pools
According to Dubai Municipality's Private Swimming Pools Safety Guidelines, which apply to pools in private residential areas in the Emirate of Dubai, every pool in a private villa must be registered with Dubai Municipality before construction or installation begins, and a pool must not be altered or modified, for example by adding a diving board or slide, without Dubai Municipality's approval. The guidelines also set requirements for the enclosure around the pool, with gates that open outwards, away from the pool, and are self-closing and self-latching. We prepare the drawings and apply for the approvals ourselves.
Designing the enclosure with the garden
Safe without looking like a cage
An enclosure around a family pool can be a low wall with glass, a fence integrated into planting, or a change of level with a controlled gate. Designed with the garden, it separates the pool from the play lawn and the house doors while keeping sight lines from the seating area.
The 3D design shows the pool, enclosure, deck and garden together, so you can judge how the space feels and where adults can watch from.

Project Study
A free site visit to inspect the existing pool or the space for a new one, and to see how children use the garden.
Plan
Scope, enclosure and equipment, and the Dubai Municipality approvals, which we apply for.
Visualization
The pool, enclosure and garden in 3D.
Execution
The approved design is built in-house, with a single project manager as your contact.
Duration depends on the work. You will have a programme before work starts, prepared after the visit.
