Landscape construction in Pearl Jumeirah

Building a garden on a reclaimed island plot is mostly about what happens below the finished surface: levels, drainage, services and footings. We build those layers in the right order, then the paving and planting on top.

FROM APPROVED

From approved design to finished garden

Landscape construction is the execution side of a garden: turning an approved layout into walls, paving, planting beds, irrigation and lighting that will hold up. Meraas describes Pearl Jumeira as a reclaimed island with plots for custom-built villas, and that brings a few practical points. Gardens are often built after a large custom house has just been completed, so the site may still carry construction debris, temporary levels and services left by the main contractor. Ground conditions near the coast need sensible drainage, and fixings and lights have to suit humid, salty air. We check all of this before the first trench is dug.

THE ORDER

The order we build in

Most garden defects come from building the layers in the wrong order. On site we work in this sequence.

  • Clearing and setting outRemoving debris and old material, then marking zones, paths and structures from the approved drawings.
  • Levels and drainageSetting falls away from the house and towards drainage points, so irrigation water and rare heavy rain do not sit against walls or on terraces.
  • Civil and blockworkFootings, garden and boundary walls, raised planters, steps and the bases for pergolas, kitchens or seating.
  • ServicesIrrigation mains and zones, cable ducts for lighting and power, and pipework for any water feature, laid and tested before they disappear.
  • HardscapePaving and interlock, stepping stones, decking and cladding, laid to the levels set earlier.
  • Softscape and lightingSoil, planting, lawn or artificial grass, then light fittings connected and aimed.
WORKING ON

Working on an island site

Access, neighbours and community rules

Every delivery and every worker reaches the plot through the island's access and the community's site rules. We plan deliveries, storage on the plot and waste removal so the street and neighbouring plots are kept clear, and we follow the working rules the community management sets for contractors.

Our team works 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday. A dedicated project manager coordinates the trades and is your single point of contact, so you do not have to manage masons, irrigation installers and electricians separately.

APPROVALS AND

Approvals and site permissions

Pearl Jumeirah appears in Dubai Holding's list of communities managed by Dubai Holding Community Management. Contractor access and approvals for external works rest with the community's master developer or management. We apply for what the work needs as part of the project.

HOW A

How a construction project runs with us

01

Project Study

A free site visit to check ground condition, levels, access to the plot and the services already in place.

02

Plan

The build sequence, materials and approvals, which we apply for. If you already have a landscape design, we work from it.

03

Visualization

Any design changes are confirmed in 3D before execution, so the site team builds exactly what you approved.

04

Execution

Our in-house team builds layer by layer, with tests on irrigation and lighting before handover.

Duration depends on the work. You receive a written programme once we have seen the site.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Can you build a garden someone else designed?

Yes. We can build from an existing landscape design, and we review it on site first so levels and services work in practice.

Our house has just been finished. Can the garden start straight away?

Usually, once the plot is handed over to you and approvals for the external works are in place. We check the state of the ground and services on the site visit.

How do you deal with salty air near the sea?

We choose fixings, lights and finishes suited to coastal exposure and plan planting that copes with it.

Do you install irrigation and lighting yourselves?

Yes. Irrigation and lighting cabling are part of our landscape construction work and are laid before paving and planting.

Who arranges contractor access on the island?

We do, under the community's rules for contractors, as part of the approvals for the work.

How long will construction take?

It depends on the work. You receive a programme after the site visit.
