Landscape construction in Mudon

We build Mudon gardens from the ground up: levels and drainage first, then irrigation and cable ducts, then blockwork, paving, grass and planting.

BUILDING A

Building a townhouse garden properly

Mudon is a community of villas and townhouses, plus some apartments; typically the houses have a garden at the back and, on end units, a strip down the side. Garden construction on these plots is detailed work in a tight space. Levels have to fall away from the house and the neighbour's wall, water from irrigation has to go somewhere other than the patio, and lighting has to be cabled before anything is laid over it. Materials usually come in through the house or a side gate, so every delivery and every bag of excavated soil is planned. This page is about that execution side; the design side has its own page.

WHAT WE

What we build, in order

  • Protection and setting outFloors and doors along the access route covered; the layout marked on the ground.
  • Excavation and removalOld paving, lawn or planting taken out and removed from site.
  • Levels and drainageFalls set so water runs to drains or planted areas, away from the house.
  • ServicesIrrigation lines and valves, and ducts for every outdoor light, laid and tested.
  • BlockworkPlanters, low walls, seating and counter bases on proper footings.
  • Hard and soft finishesStepping stones, paving and edging, then grass and planting.
  • Lighting and commissioningFittings installed, irrigation zones set up and the garden handed over clean.
NARROW SPACES

Narrow spaces and side passages

Where most of the detail is

A side passage is a few paces wide and runs between the house and a boundary wall, with AC units, drains and meters along it. Turning it into a usable path means working around those services, setting stepping stones to a steady rhythm, and fixing wall lights high enough to light the path without glare.

Project Mudon in Arabella shows the result: stepping stones set in grass, wall lights at regular spacing and a clean edge along the wall. The construction behind it, levels, ducts and edging, is what keeps it looking that way.

FAQ

Questions and answers

How is landscape construction different from design and build?

Design and build starts from a blank brief. Construction covers how the garden is physically built, and we also build to designs prepared by others.

Can you build in a Mudon garden reached only through the house?

Yes. We protect the route and size deliveries to it.

Will lighting cables be visible?

No. Ducts are laid before the paving and planting, so cables run underground.

Do you install irrigation?

Yes, as part of the build, with planted areas on their own zones.

Who applies for approvals?

We do, to the community's master developer or management, for the scope agreed.

What changes the cost?

Garden size, how much is removed, blockwork and finishes, lighting and irrigation, and access. A quotation follows the site visit.
