Built-in fire pits in Dubai

A fire pit makes a Dubai garden worth sitting in on winter evenings. We design and build fixed fire pits as part of the garden, with the seating, paving and any gas supply planned around them.

WHY A

Why a fire pit in a hot city

For half the year Dubai is about shade, and for the other half it is about warmth. From roughly November to March the evenings turn cool, and in the desert breeze a garden can feel chilly after dark. A fire pit gives people a reason to stay outside: it is a focal point, a source of light and a place the conversation naturally gathers. A portable steel bowl from a shop does this for a while, but it is easy to knock over, it scorches the paving and it never quite looks part of the garden. A built-in fire pit is designed with the seating around it, sits on a base made for heat and, if it runs on gas, has its supply routed safely underground.

FORMS A

Forms a built-in fire pit can take

01

Round fire pit

The classic form, with seating in a circle. It suits a lawn or paved corner and works well with loose chairs or a curved built-in bench.

02

Linear fire feature

A long, narrow flame set into a low wall or a bench. It suits modern gardens and narrow plots where a round pit would crowd the space.

03

Fire table

A raised fire feature at coffee-table height, with a ledge around the flame for drinks. It is usually gas-fired.

04

Sunken fire pit

The fire set in the middle of a sunken seating area, so people sit below garden level, sheltered from the breeze.

05

Fire beside water

Flame next to a pool edge or water feature. It looks striking at night but needs careful spacing from swimmers and wet floors.

FUEL OPTIONS

Fuel options

This is the first decision, because it shapes everything else.

  • WoodReal crackle and smell, but smoke, sparks and ash. It needs space around it and may not suit close neighbours.
  • GasClean, instant and controllable. It needs a properly installed supply and burner, and the line is laid before the paving.
  • BioethanolNo fixed supply and little smoke, but a smaller flame and fuel that has to be handled and stored carefully.
PLANNING A

Planning a fire pit safely

A fire pit is one of the few garden features where spacing is a safety issue, not only a matter of looks.

  • Clearance overheadKeep open flame away from pergola roofs, fabric canopies, umbrellas and overhanging palm fronds, which dry out and burn easily.
  • Distance from the house and boundarySmoke and heat should not reach doors, windows or the neighbour's garden.
  • WindThe prevailing breeze decides where smoke goes and how sheltered the flame needs to be.
  • Heat-resistant base and surroundThe pit sits on a base that can take heat, with a surround that does not crack or stain.
  • Children and petsEdge height, a cover when the pit is not in use and enough space to walk around it.
  • Community rulesSome communities have rules on open flames or gas installations, which we check during the approvals stage.
HOW WE

How we deliver a fire pit

01

Project Study

A free site visit to look at the space, the wind, neighbouring buildings and any existing gas or power.

02

Plan

We agree the form, fuel, seating and clearances, plan service routes, and apply for the approvals your community requires.

03

Visualization

You see the fire pit and seating in 3D in your garden, including at night with the lighting, before work starts.

04

Execution

Our in-house team builds the base, services and surround, coordinated by a dedicated project manager.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost

  • Fuel typeA gas burner and supply line is a bigger job than a wood-burning pit.
  • Size and formA round pit, a linear feature or a fire table.
  • Built-in seating around it
  • Surround and paving finishes
  • Whether it is sunkenExcavation, retaining walls and drainage add work.
  • Lighting and surrounding landscaping
PART OF

Part of the whole garden

A fire pit feels right when it is designed with what surrounds it: a seating area, a sunken lounge, a lawn or a pool deck. We plan it with the rest of your outdoor space so the paving, lighting and planting all lead to it, and so the clearances are right from the start rather than fixed afterwards.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Is a fire pit worth it in Dubai?

For the cooler months, yes. Evenings from about November to March are cool enough that a fire makes the garden far more inviting after dark.

Gas or wood?

Gas is cleaner and easier to control and suits most villa gardens with close neighbours. Wood gives a traditional fire but produces smoke and sparks. We plan whichever you choose.

Can a fire pit go under a pergola?

Open flame should be kept well away from roofs, canopies and palm fronds. It is usually better to place the fire pit in the open, with the pergola nearby.

Can it be built into sunken seating?

Yes. A sunken fire pit is a common arrangement, but the sunken area must have proper drainage.

Is a fire pit safe with children?

It can be, with the right edge height, a cover for when it is not in use and enough space around it. These are planned in the design.

Do I need approval for a fire pit?

It depends on your community and the scope, especially for gas installations. We apply for the approvals ourselves.

How long does it take?

It depends on the work. We give you a programme after the site visit.
