Landscape construction in Sobha Hartland
Planting-heavy gardens are built differently from paved ones. Most of the work in a Sobha Hartland garden happens below the surface: soil, drainage and irrigation that let the planting thrive once the team has left.

Building the ground the planting will live in
Sobha Realty presents Sobha Hartland as a community set within a 22-hectare green belt, with villas, townhouses and apartments in Mohammed Bin Rashid City. Many owners there want gardens that match that setting, with more beds and trees than paving. That shifts the construction effort. A paved garden is mainly about levels and a good base; a planted one depends on what goes into the beds, how water reaches each plant and where surplus water goes. Where a home has been handed over recently, the garden is often being built for the first time rather than replaced. This page explains how we build them. Design is covered on our Sobha Hartland design-and-build page. Photos are from other Dubai communities.
What goes into a planted garden build
- Clearing and checking the groundConstruction debris and compacted fill are common in newly handed-over plots and are removed before beds are formed.
- Bed preparationBeds excavated and filled with a growing medium suited to the plants chosen, with edging to keep soil off paths.
- DrainageFalls and drainage points so irrigation run-off and occasional heavy rain do not collect against the house or boundary walls.
- Irrigation zonesSeparate zones for lawn, beds, trees and pots, with sleeves under every path so pipes can be reached later.
- Lighting cablesDucts for uplights under trees, wall lights and path lights, laid before planting so roots and cables do not compete.
- Hard surfacesPaths, stepping stones, a seating terrace and any decking, kept to the routes you use.
- Planting and lawnTrees first, then shrubs and ground cover, then lawn or artificial grass, each connected to its zone and tested.

Townhouse and villa gardens
Two different builds
Townhouse gardens are often reached only through the house or a narrow gate, so materials arrive in small loads and the build is organised around protecting the interior. Planting is concentrated at the boundary and a single seating area.
Detached villa gardens generally have more room and more zones. There the build often runs alongside a pool or pergola, and heavy works are sequenced first so that new beds and lawn are not driven over.
