WHAT MASONRY

What masonry covers on a villa project

Masonry is the work done with blocks, bricks, stone and mortar, together with the plaster or render that finishes it. On a villa in Dubai it is rarely a project of its own. It is the part of a renovation or garden build that creates the solid structure everything else is fixed to: the wall the gate hangs on, the planter the lighting sits in, the bench the cushions go on, the shell a pool is lined over. Getting it right matters more than its modest look suggests. Walls that are not straight, level and properly cured show every defect once tiles, cladding or paint go on, and outdoor masonry has to cope with strong sun, heat and the occasional heavy rain.

MASONRY WE

Masonry we build

01

Boundary and garden walls

New or redesigned walls around the plot, raised for privacy or rebuilt to suit a new gate, as on the redesigned boundary wall at Project Miracle.

02

Planters and raised beds

Built-in planters along walls and paths, sometimes combined with seating, like the planter wall with a floating bench at Project Murano.

03

Built-in seating and sunken areas

Masonry benches, steps and sunken lounges set into the garden, such as the sunken structure at Project Majestic.

04

Blockwork for pools and water features

Block walls that form or surround a pool shell, a balance tank or a fountain basin before waterproofing and finishes.

05

Internal partitions

Blockwork walls inside the villa when a layout is changed and a solid wall suits better than a lightweight partition.

06

Plastering and render

Internal plaster and external render to give walls a true, even surface ready for paint, cladding or tiles.

HOW MASONRY

How masonry fits into our process

01

Project Study

A free site visit to check the ground, levels, existing walls and where services such as drainage, irrigation and cables run.

02

Plan

Heights, thicknesses, openings and finishes are agreed together with whatever the masonry will carry, and we apply for any approvals your community requires, for example for boundary wall changes.

03

Visualization

Walls, planters and seating are shown in 3D with their final finish, so proportions are settled before blocks are laid.

04

Execution

Our in-house team builds and finishes the masonry, with sleeves for cables and pipes placed as the walls go up rather than cut in later.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost of masonry

  • Length and height of walls
  • FoundationsNew footings, or building on an existing base.
  • Demolition of existing walls and disposal
  • FinishRender and paint, cladding, stone or tiles.
  • Built-in elementsLighting, planters, seating or water within the masonry.
  • AccessHow easily blocks and mortar can reach the work area. Masonry is one of the trades under our civil construction work, together with extensions, waterproofing and MEP.
FAQ

Questions and answers

Do you take on masonry as a separate job?

Masonry is usually part of a wider project for us, such as a garden, pool or villa renovation. Tell us what you need at the free site visit and we will advise how it fits.

Do I need approval to change my boundary wall?

Often yes, as communities control boundary walls and gates. Which approvals apply depends on the community and scope, and we apply for them ourselves.

Can lighting be built into garden walls and planters?

Yes. Cable routes and fittings are planned before the blocks are laid, as with the underlit planter wall and floating bench at Project Murano.

Can masonry be finished with cladding instead of paint?

Yes. Render and paint, cladding, stone and tiles are all possible, and the choice is made during design and shown in 3D.

What masonry work do you carry out in Dubai?

Boundary and garden walls, planters and raised beds, built-in seating and sunken areas, blockwork for pools and water features, internal partitions, and plastering and render, all as part of a designed villa or garden project.

How long does masonry work take?

It depends on the work. A programme is given after the site visit.

Who is my contact during the works?

A dedicated project manager is your single point of contact from start to finish.
