Car parking shades in Dubai

We design and build car shades and covered parking for Dubai villas, sized for your cars and the driveway and detailed to look like part of the house rather than a kit added later.

WHY A

Why a car shade matters in Dubai

A car left in the open through a Dubai summer becomes too hot to touch, the cabin takes a long time to cool, and dashboards, seats and paint suffer from constant sun. Dust and the occasional heavy shower add to it. A car shade over the villa driveway solves most of that, and a well-designed one does more: it gives a shaded place to get children and shopping in and out, keeps the front of the villa cooler, and frames the entrance. Because it sits at the front of the plot, it is one of the first things anyone sees, so its proportions and finish matter as much as the shade it gives.

TYPES OF

Types of car parking shade

These are the common forms in the UAE. Which suits your villa depends on the driveway, the number of cars, the look of the house and what your community allows.

01

Tensile fabric shades

A fabric membrane stretched over a steel frame, often on cantilevered posts so there are fewer columns to drive around. Light in look, and widely used across Dubai.

02

Metal roof shades

Steel frames with sheet or panel roofs give solid shade and shelter from rain, and need a fall and a gutter so water is led away.

03

Slatted or louvred shades

Aluminium or composite slats, similar to a pergola, that match a garden pergola or gazebo and give filtered shade.

04

Masonry or concrete covered parking

Columns and a roof built to match the villa's architecture, so the covered parking reads as part of the house.

05

Combined parking and entrance canopy

One structure that shades both the cars and the walk to the front door, useful where the driveway meets the entrance.

WHAT TO

What to decide in the design

Cars, columns, gates and drainage

We start with the cars themselves: how many, how large, and how you drive in and out. Column positions decide whether doors can open fully and whether reversing out is easy, and a cantilevered design keeps the space clear at the cost of a heavier frame. Height matters for larger vehicles and roof boxes, and for the view of the villa from the street.

The shade also has to work with what is already there: the gate and its motor, the boundary wall, lighting, the paving or interlock below, and where rainwater goes when it runs off the roof. Orientation matters too. In summer the late-afternoon sun comes in low from the west, so the depth of the roof and any side screening are set to keep the cars covered when they are actually parked.

HOW WE

How we deliver a car shade

01

Project Study

A free site visit to measure the driveway, check levels, the gate, existing paving and any services under the ground where footings will go.

02

Plan

We agree the type of shade, size, column positions, roof material and lighting, and we apply for the approvals your community requires.

03

Visualization

You see the shade in 3D against your villa, from the street and from the entrance, before anything is fabricated.

04

Execution

Our in-house team builds the footings and the structure, with one project manager as your single point of contact. A programme is given after the site visit.

WHAT CHANGES

What changes the cost of a car shade

  • Number of cars and overall size
  • StructurePosts at each corner, cantilevered frames or masonry columns.
  • Roof typeFabric, sheet, slats or a solid roof.
  • FootingsNew foundations, and any paving that has to be lifted and relaid.
  • Drainage and gutters
  • Lighting and finishesIntegrated lights, colour and cladding to match the villa.
APPROVALS

Approvals

Car shades are visible from the street, so most Dubai communities control their size, position, colour and type. Which approvals apply depends on your community and the scope. We apply for them ourselves and design the shade to meet those requirements from the start.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Do I need approval for a car parking shade?

In most communities, yes, because the shade changes how the villa looks from the street. Which approvals apply depends on the community and scope, and we apply for them ourselves.

Fabric or solid roof: which is better?

Fabric is lighter in look and suits cantilevered designs; a solid roof gives full shade and rain shelter but needs gutters and a heavier frame. We recommend a direction after seeing the driveway and the villa.

Can the shade be built without posts in the way?

A cantilevered design keeps the front of the parking clear, with the posts on one side. It needs stronger footings and frame, which is checked during design.

Can you match the car shade to our pergola or gazebo?

Yes. Slatted designs and masonry columns can follow the same lines and finishes as other structures in the garden, and you see them together in 3D.

Can lighting be built into the shade?

Yes. Lighting is planned with the structure so cables run inside or along the frame.

How long does a car shade take?

It depends on the work. We give you a programme after the site visit.

Can you redo the driveway at the same time?

Yes. Paving or interlock, kerbs and boundary walls can be part of the same project, managed by one project manager.
