Decking for Dubai villas
A deck turns a patch of sand or a tired patio into a level, warm-looking platform for loungers, dining or a pergola. We design and build decking for villa gardens and pool surrounds across Dubai.

Where decking makes sense
Decking is a raised floor of boards fixed to a frame. It is quick to level over uneven ground, it gives a garden a warm, natural look next to hard paving and lawn, and it creates a clear zone for a lounge, a dining table or a shade structure. In Dubai villas the most common uses are around the pool, as a platform under a pergola or gazebo, as a step between the house and the garden, and as a walkway through planting. Decking is not the answer everywhere. In full sun some boards get hot underfoot, and in a busy family garden a paved or tiled surface may be easier to live with. Part of the design work is deciding where a deck really earns its place.
Decking materials, in general terms
Search interest in Dubai is split between WPC and wooden decking. Each has trade-offs in this climate, and the right choice is agreed during design.
- WPC (wood-plastic composite)Boards made from wood fibre and plastic. They do not rot or splinter, need no oiling and come in consistent colours. Like all composites they expand in heat, so correct gaps and fixings matter, and darker colours get hot in direct sun.
- Natural timberWarm, real grain and cooler underfoot than many composites. It needs a species suited to sun and moisture and regular re-oiling, or it greys and can crack.
- Wood-look porcelain tilesNot a deck in the strict sense, but often considered alongside one. They give a timber look with the durability of tile and can be laid on a raised support system or on a slab.
Pool decking
Pool decking is the most searched form of decking in the UAE, and it has its own requirements.
Grip when wet
Boards with a grooved or textured surface, and spacing that lets water drain, reduce the risk of slipping on a wet deck.
Pool water and cleaning
The surface has to cope with chlorinated or salt water splash and with regular cleaning.
The edge with the pool
How the deck meets the coping, and whether boards run up to the water, is decided together with the pool design.
Drainage below
Water that passes through the boards needs somewhere to go, so the base beneath the deck is laid to falls.
Access to equipment
Removable sections over pipework, skimmer lids or valves make maintenance possible without lifting the whole deck.
What sits under the boards
Most problems with decks start below the surface. These are the points we plan before any boards are fixed.
- A stable baseA deck can sit on an existing slab or on ground prepared for it. The base has to be firm and level so the frame does not move.
- The frameJoists at the right spacing for the boards chosen, so the deck does not bounce or sag.
- VentilationAir movement under the boards helps them stay stable and dry.
- Expansion gapsSpace between boards and at walls allows for movement in heat.
- Services and lightingCables for step lights or underlighting run under the deck before it is closed.
Decks as part of the garden
Platforms, edges and light
A deck rarely stands alone. It is usually the floor of something else: a pergola, a lounge corner, a BBQ area or a pool surround. Planning it with those elements sets the right level, the right edge and the right finish against the paving and lawn around it.
Light makes a big difference at night. A strip of light under the edge of a raised platform, as in this outdoor kitchen at Project Casa Colonia, marks the step and makes the platform appear to float above the floor.

How we deliver decking

A free site visit to measure, check levels and the existing base, and see how the area is used.
Plan
We agree the material direction, layout, board direction, edges, steps and lighting, and apply for any approvals your community requires.
Visualization
You see the deck in 3D with the pool, pergola or garden around it before work starts.
Execution
Our in-house team prepares the base, builds the frame and fixes the boards, with a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact.
What changes the cost
- Area of the deck
- Board material and finish
- Base preparationFixing to an existing slab or preparing new ground.
