Outdoor showers in Dubai

A shower by the pool means a rinse before swimming, a cool-down on a summer afternoon, and less sand and chlorine carried into the house.

WHY AN

Why an outdoor shower earns its place

An outdoor shower is one of the smallest additions to a villa garden and one of the most used. Rinsing off before getting into the pool keeps sunscreen, dust and sweat out of the water. Rinsing after a swim keeps chlorine off the skin and wet feet off the floors inside. In Dubai's summer, a quick cold shower between the lounger and the water is simply part of the routine. It suits any villa with a pool, homes near the beach where sand comes back from every outing, and gardens where children move between the lawn, the paddling area and the house all day.

TYPES OF

Types of outdoor shower

01

Wall-mounted

A shower head and mixer fixed to a boundary wall, the pool house or a feature wall. Simple, tidy and easy to screen.

02

Freestanding post

A single column standing on the pool deck or lawn edge, placed exactly where people step out of the water.

03

Rain shower

A wide overhead head, often set into a pergola or frame, that falls like rain. It works as a feature as well as a rinse.

04

Enclosed shower

Screened on two or three sides for privacy, so it can be used for a full shower after a swim.

05

Built into a pool house

An outdoor shower on the outer wall of a pool house or changing room, sharing its water and drainage.

WHAT TO

What to decide in design

Most outdoor shower problems come from drainage and placement, not from the shower itself.

  • LocationNear the pool steps or the path from the pool to the house, so people use it on the way.
  • DrainageWhere the water goes: a floor drain, a channel, or a gravel bed, with falls that keep water away from the pool and the house walls.
  • Floor surfaceA surface that drains, stays slip-resistant when wet and is comfortable for bare feet in the heat.
  • Hot and cold waterWater in exposed pipes can be warm in summer; whether to add a mixer and a heated supply is decided early.
  • PrivacyScreens, planting or a wall if the shower is overlooked or used for more than a quick rinse.
  • LightingLighting so the shower and the wet floor around it are safe to use after dark.
  • How it fits the gardenWhether it should disappear against a wall or become a feature in its own right.

PLANNED WITH

Planned with the pool, not added later

Water, drainage and power are easier before the deck goes down

An outdoor shower needs a water supply, a way for water to drain and often a light. All three are easiest to route before paving or decking is laid. That is why we plan showers with the pool and landscape design, even if the shower itself is a small item in the scope.

On Project Casa Colonia, rain showers were part of a resort-style poolside that also included a custom-built BBQ station, pergola zones, landscape lighting and outdoor automation. Designing these together in 3D lets each one sit in the right place along the way people move around the pool.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Can you install an outdoor shower by my existing pool?

Yes. Outdoor showers are part of our landscaping scope. On the site visit we check where water supply and drainage can connect.

Where does the water from an outdoor shower go?

It is led to a drain, a channel or a gravel bed, with the floor laid to falls so water moves away from the pool and the house.

Do outdoor showers have hot water?

They can. Some people want only cold water for cooling off; others want a mixer for a full shower. This is decided during design.

What is a rain shower?

A wide overhead shower head, often built into a pergola or frame, that releases water like rainfall. It doubles as a feature in the garden.

Can the shower be part of a pool house?

Yes. It can sit inside the pool house or on its outer wall, sharing the same water and drainage.

Do I need approval for an outdoor shower?

That depends on your community and the overall scope. OutMazed applies for the approvals itself.

Can you add one as part of a larger garden project?

Yes, and that is usually the best time, because water, drainage and lighting are routed before paving and decking are laid.
