Outdoor jacuzzis and spa pools in Dubai
An outdoor jacuzzi gives you warm, moving water for cool winter evenings and a shaded soak in the rest of the year. We build them into villa gardens, on their own or as part of a swimming pool.

What we mean by a jacuzzi or spa pool
Jacuzzi is a brand name that has become the everyday word for a hot tub: a small pool of heated water with jets that push air and water out for massage. People in Dubai use jacuzzi, hot tub, whirlpool and spa pool almost interchangeably. There are two broad kinds. A portable spa is a ready-made acrylic tub that sits on a slab or a deck. A built-in spa is constructed in place, in concrete or as a fibreglass shell, and can be shaped and finished to match the pool and the garden. This page is about the built-in kind, designed with the pool and the garden around it.
Options
Spa joined to the pool
A raised spa at one corner of the pool spills into it over a short edge. The sound of falling water links the two, and they share some of the equipment.
Standalone garden spa
Set apart from the pool, near a lounge or under a pergola, it becomes a more private spot of its own.
Sunken spa in a deck
Built flush into a deck or a terrace, with the surrounding paving or timber acting as seating.
Spa within a plunge pool
In a smaller garden, a plunge pool with jets and heating can do the job of both.
What to plan for in Dubai
- Heating and coolingFrom November to March a heated spa is pleasant in the evenings. In summer the water can get uncomfortably warm, so shading and, if you want it, a chiller are worth planning.
- ShadeA pergola, gazebo or wall to the west makes the spa usable on more days and protects the finishes.
- PrivacyA spa is somewhere you sit still for a while. Screens, planting or the height of the walls around it matter more than for a pool.
- Seating and jetsThe number and shape of seats, and where the jets sit, decide whether it is comfortable. These are set with who will use it in mind.
- Lighting and controlsUnderwater lighting and controls you can reach from the spa or your phone make evening use easy.
- Equipment spaceThe heater, blower and pumps need an accessible, ventilated place, ideally out of earshot of the seating.
Where a spa sits in the garden
A built-in spa is somewhere people sit still for a while, so its place is chosen for shade and privacy first, then for how close it should be to the pool. Each of the three gardens below has shade structures and places to sit beside its pool, the setting a spa needs. A spa also adds a heater and a blower to the pool equipment, so where they go is agreed in the Plan stage, and where a garden has an automation system, the spa's heating, jets and lights can be run from it.
