WPC doors in Dubai

WPC doors are made from wood-plastic composite, a material that copes with moisture far better than many wood-based boards. They are mainly used inside the home, especially in bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.

WHAT WPC

What WPC is and why it is used for doors

Wood-plastic composite is made from wood fibre or flour bound with a thermoplastic resin, formed into boards, door leaves and frames. Because the wood particles are encased in plastic, the material absorbs little water and does not swell and delaminate the way some MDF or chipboard doors can when a bathroom is steamy or a floor is mopped every day. That is the main reason WPC doors have become a common choice for wet rooms in Dubai apartments and villas. WPC can be produced with a textured surface, laminated or painted, so the doors can match timber or plain painted doors elsewhere. Its limits are worth knowing too: it is not real timber, and its appearance and stiffness depend a great deal on the product's density and construction.

WHERE WPC

Where WPC doors suit

01

Bathrooms and en-suites

The most common use for WPC doors in Dubai. Steam, splashes and cleaning water are less of a problem than for many wood-based doors.

02

Kitchens and laundries

Rooms with humidity, spills and frequent washing of floors.

03

Maid's rooms and service areas

Hard-working doors where low upkeep matters.

04

Frames as well as leaves

WPC door frames resist moisture at the bottom of the jamb, where wooden frames in wet rooms often fail first.

05

Covered external service doors

Some WPC doors are used in sheltered outdoor positions; fully exposed entrances usually call for a different door.

IS WPC

Is WPC right for your door?

Match the material to the room

For bathrooms and other damp rooms, WPC is a sensible, practical choice. For a main entrance, the priorities are different: security, weather and presence. A front door is usually better served by a solid timber, composite or metal-framed door with proper locking, or by a pivot door where the entrance calls for it.

In living areas and bedrooms the choice is often about appearance. If you want real wood grain, a crafted panel design or a door that matches bespoke joinery, a custom timber door may suit better. Many homes end up with WPC in the wet rooms and another door type elsewhere, with finishes coordinated so they read as one set.

What changes the cost

Number of doors, leaf and frame sizes, whether frames are replaced as well as leaves, design and finish, vision panels or louvres, hardware, and repairs to walls and floors around old frames. We quote after the site visit.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Are WPC doors good for bathrooms?

Yes. Bathrooms and en-suites are the most common use. The composite absorbs very little water, so steam, splashes and daily floor mopping are less of a problem than for many wood-based doors, and a WPC frame resists moisture at the bottom of the jamb where wooden frames in wet rooms often fail first.

What does WPC stand for?

Wood-plastic composite: wood fibre combined with a plastic resin.

Are WPC doors waterproof?

They absorb very little water and cope with damp rooms much better than many wood-based doors. They should still not stand in water, and good sealing at the floor helps.

Are WPC doors good for the main door?

They are mainly an internal door. For a main entrance, security and weather resistance usually point to a solid timber, composite or metal-framed door.

Do WPC doors look like wood?

They can be finished with wood-effect laminates or textures. The look varies by product, so we show samples and the 3D view before ordering.

Can you replace just the door leaf?

Yes, if the frame is sound and the opening is a standard size. In bathrooms, frames are often damaged at the bottom, in which case we replace them too.

Can WPC doors be painted?

Many WPC doors accept paint, and some come pre-finished. The approach depends on the product chosen.
