Security glazing and doors in Dubai
When glass needs to do more than let light in, the glass, the frame and the fixing into the wall have to work together. We plan security glazing and security doors as one package.

What security glazing is
Ordinary window glass breaks easily and leaves an opening. Security glazing is glass built to resist being broken through. Most of it is laminated: layers of glass bonded with tough interlayers, so that even when the surface cracks the pane holds together and stays in the frame. Adding more layers, thicker interlayers or polycarbonate increases the resistance. The important point is that glass is only one part of the system. A strong pane in an ordinary frame can be pushed out whole, and a security door is only as good as its hinges, locks and the wall it is fixed into. Security glazing is therefore chosen together with frames, hardware and fixings.
General categories
These are broad categories, not product ratings. The level of protection for a particular opening is agreed with you during design.
Laminated safety glass
The basic step up from ordinary glass. It holds together when broken, which deters casual break-ins and reduces injury.
Burglar-resistant glazing
Thicker laminated build-ups in reinforced frames, designed to slow a determined attempt to break through with tools.
Bullet-resistant glazing
Multi-layer glass, often with polycarbonate, designed to stop projectiles. Heavy, thick and normally specified for particular risks.
Security doors
Doors with reinforced leaves, multi-point locking and strengthened frames, with or without glazed panels.
Security film
A film applied to existing glass that helps hold fragments together. An upgrade, not a substitute for security glass.
Things to consider
- Which openings matterGround-floor windows and doors, glazing hidden from the street, and rooms holding valuables or equipment. The garage door is often the largest opening of all; we cover garage door replacement separately.
- WeightSecurity glass is much heavier than standard glass, so frames, hinges and the wall they fix into must carry it.
- AppearanceThick laminated glass can look slightly darker or greener at the edge. Frames are often deeper.
- EscapeOpenings that may be needed for escape in an emergency should still open from inside.
- Other layersGlazing works best alongside CCTV, lighting and alarms. CCTV was part of our scope at Project Alpha and Project Miracle.
